A busy week: Three new product launches in four days

<![CDATA[This week my small dev team of three released three new products. Each of them have been weeks or months in development and it's great to finally get them all out in the wild.

The all-new HeraldScotland app

hs appThis cross-platform app, based on Sencha Touch, is a huge leap forward for us both in performance and user interface. The new app downloads the day’s news approx 10x faster than the app it replaces, and the clean new interface lets us publish more content across a wider range of devices than ever before.

Initial feedback from beta testers and staff has been hugely positive. In fact the only complaint so far has been that we don’t have a version for Windows Phone.

Thanks to Sencha our app is fairly easy to port across to other platforms, so hopefully that Windows version wont be too far away – as long as enough people want it.

Herald Drive

driveWe launched our property site, Scotland’s Homes, back in January. That site has generated some great feedback on the design and user interface, so we’ve borrowed a lot of the nice features from that site for our new Drive platform.

Drive launched today with thousands of cars from many of the top motor dealers in Scotland. We’ve also leaned on the Drive supplement in print, porting around 600 vehicle reviews to our new platform. We’ve augmented that with some high-def video reviews recorded specially for the site on models ranging from the BMW M5 to the Maserati Ghibli.

The TimesOut City Guide

timesoutOur final launch of the week was a recommendations platform for Glasgow venues. We’re seeking reviews on hundreds of pubs, clubs, parks and landmarks across Glasgow in order to compile the definitive guide to Glasgow, by Glaswegians.

If you have a favourite Glasgow venue, visit the site now to submit your recommendation.
